Sadistic Evil is one of the many outlets of Behemoth, a gentleman that has made his mark on Finnish Black Metal since 1991 in bands such as Aske, Black Cum, Cursed Penetrator, Kurnugia, Necro Ritus and formerly Azazel and Vornat, just to mention a few. This particular entity is the latest edition to his resume spawned earlier in 2026, and ‘Ancient Torture’, a demo tape on Wolfkult Religion, is the first released recording to date.
In case this one wasn’t clear yet from the band name and title, I’ll add that the band presents six songs in thirteen minutes and one of the tracks is called ‘Angel Cunt’… Yep, you guessed it right. This is indeed super crude Black Metal, in this case in the vein of VON, old Profanatica, Archgoat and Demoncy. Minimal variation and a constant barrage of filth, expect one riff per track that consists of four to five, maybe six notes at most, repeated relentlessly for a couple of minutes. The same goes for the drums. Why vary if a constant pummeling will do? The hoarse bellowing vocals with appropriate reverb are perhaps the most varied, but again, it’s all relative within a soundscape of a continous battering of drums and guitars.
Primtive and simple in the good sense of the word, ‘Ancient Evil’ is about as straightforward and devoid of complexity as it gets. Grab a drink, take a seat and just enjoy some mindless pummelling. If you love that utter simplicity of VON and early Profanatica you will no doubt appreciate what Sadistic Evil is doing here.
