With a band name like Witchfukker, nothing less than extremely non-subtle music will do. And the Dutch duo do not disappoint. Reeking of a primitive scent of Extreme Metal that walks the boundaries of Black, Death and Thrash Metal, the band’s latest demo ‘Deathaemorrhage’ contains two new songs and re-recordings of ‘March of the Metal SS’ and ‘Death Comes Ripping Through’, two songs that previously appeared on the ‘Total Wimpslaughter’ demo. A little under 16 minutes in length, the latest demo has a sound and aesthetics that fits the band best: not nearly as Lo-Fi as before but still very much raw, violent, unchained and energetic.

The deeply rooted influence of Venom and Hellhammer is undeniably draped all over the sound of Witchfukker, but its interpretation leans more on the extreme variants that have appeared all over the globe in the second half of the 80s and early 90s. Raging and blasting with wild drum patterns, deranged vocals and primitive razor-sharp guitar riffs, the songs are easy to digest and immediately get you hooked, yet have a surprisingly high replayability value. In particular the debauchery of the Australian Black/Thrash Metal scene and especially that of Sadistik Exekution is noticeable, but a dose of earliest Mayhem cannot be denied either and I keep being reminded of a band like Azazel. How you want to label the musical style on the demo is actually rather meaningless though. What’s most important is the impression that the band leaves with ‘Deathaemorrhage’ and their live performances. And that is one of a unit teeming with energy, a no nonsense attitude, adoration of chaos and a deep respect for the forefathers of extreme Metal. A great demo that hopefully will find its way to a vinyl release as well.
