‘Nuclear Conquest’ is the tale of Turbo Sodomizer, Hammer Commander and Sonic Reducer, who together as Gotthammer have set out to turn the world to ash with their downtuned savagery. This compilation is a fist in the face of chronology, starting off with their first demo ‘Godslaying Sonic Barbarism’, followed by the most recent EP ‘Ancient Nature’. We are then served with the songs from their third release, the Goatcorpse split, only to finish with the crude rehearsal material from the second demo. Not that the order matters much when you’re caught in a whirlwind.
Beherit, Blasphemy, Sadomator, Archgoat and Proclamation are just a few examples of what these Canadians have molded their metal after and they have stuck to those guns. Those looking for musical refinement of the band as time progressed will find very little evidence. Outside a few changes in production, the recipe of pummeling drums, downtuned guitars and roaring vocals continue to combine into a volatile mix of Black Metal, Death Metal and Grindcore that leaves very little room for oxygen. Previously released on separate releases, now conveniently bundled for maximum enjoyment of unbridled barbarity.
