Fleshless Rots – Promo 2026

Country: Indonesia
Label: Self-Released
Format: Digital Demo
Year: 2026

What we have here is the very first offering from Fleshless Rots, a new band from Indonesia. Whether this is due to the increasingly strict regulations imposed by the Indonesian authorities or simply because it’s “cool”, I don’t know, but the four-piece are referred to only by their initials and have been made unrecognisable in the band photo. What is visible in the photo, however, are the band shirts they are wearing: Morbid Angel, Dropdead, Nihilist and Gatecreeper. Whether intentional or not, Fleshless Rots actually sounds quite a bit like a combination of those bands.

‘Promo 2026’ is a very short demo, only two tracks clocking in well under six minutes, but as an advocate of short releases, that’s something I welcome and commend. Not only does it fit the format well, a demo is for demonstrating what you’re doing, it also serves the music best. Fleshless Rots is a band that harks back to the very early beginnings of the Death Metal scene. With a very rehearsal-like, raw-as-a-cat’s-tongue production, both tracks do have a profound old school character that reminds of the loads of demo tapes from 1988-1990.

The band incorporates bits and pieces of Grindcore and Punk into the music, but not to an extent that it goes into Bastard Priest-like directions. Instead it mostly feels like a head-on collision between Slaughter, Extreme Noise Terror, Repulsion and Nunslaughter. With its fast pace and cave-man vocals, this is truly the stuff for anyone who has a unquenchable thirst for obscure Death Metal. An absolute banger of a demo!
