Necro Blade – Dim The Light Of Faith [Demo]

Artist: Necro Blade
Country: USA
Label: Goat Throne Records
Formats: Demo CD
Year: 2026

Admittedly, I missed this band’s debut demo from 2024, also released by Goat Throne Records, but I ran into this one and the combination of the pen-drawn artwork and the colour scheme of black/white/red made me click on it. Although Necro Blade is not going to change your perception of what old school and evil Death Metal is about, they still manage to give you a good time during the 17 minutes that ‘Dim The Light Of Faith’ lasts.

Necro Blade is an American Death Metal band with enough darkened edges to also appeal to a certain amount of people who usually prefer their Death Metal mixed with a good portion of Black Metal. But, mind you, despite the band name and artwork/colours, Necro Blade does not venture into the realm of Bestial Black/Death Metal. Instead, they are able to serve you with a respectable number of meaty Death Metal riffs that will please those who are into the darker brand of American Black Metal.

In a way that might not be too surprising, Joe Necro, who seems to be the linchpin of the band, has been in such bands as Morbosidad and Blaspherian and has some time as live guitarist in Sacrocurse as well. Also the other members of the band have an interesting musical resume that includes current and former stints in such bands as Mortuary (Mexico), P.L.F. (Pretty Little Flower), Trenchant, Obeisance, Oath Of Cruelty, Thy Feeble Saviour and Venereal Baptism. Although the band published the recording line-up of ‘Dom The Light Of Faith’, but it is a little unclear who’s actually still in the band at this moment. But regardless, the result of that combined experience is that Necro Blade sounds like a mature act with the fire and energy of a new band.

If you love the riff-driven heaviness of bands like Sadistic Intent, Imprecation and the aforementioned Morbosidad and Blaspherian, it might be wise to give ‘Dim The Light Of Faith’ a shot. But, Necro Blade sounds a great less heavy, in the sense that the do not rely on an overly phat sounding production or multiple layers of riffs. Instead, Necro Blade has a much more genuine old school sound to them, something that surely gives them a bit of extra credit. Needless to say, ‘Dim The Light Of Faith’ comes recommended for those who are into Death Metal that is free of standard grooves and has a true underground spirit.
