The cover art of this debut demo of Horns Of Abomination might not necessarily look evil, but musically this new band definitely has something to offer for those who look for the heaviest stuff around. At the time of writing, it is not yet known who is behind this band, but whoever it is, he certainly knows how to make a load of noise. Sentient Ruin Laboratories were apparently quick off the mark in releasing this ten-minute-long, thunderous racket, so it could well be that the involved musician has previously released music with other bands or projects on the American label.
But, regardless who is behind Horns Of Abomination, if you are curious how it might sound if members from Demoncy, Von, Goatlord, Teitanblood and Naked Whipper chose to go for a wild rehearsal session. It is surprisingly bass-heavy and with the almost non-stop roaring vocals it is definitely something that makes you grasp for air. The very short times in between songs almost literally feels like a moment to recapture some consciousness.
There is certainly a healthy dose of caveman-like chaos, but the heavy grinding guitar tone, quite reminiscent of Archgoat’s, keeps things surprisingly within a reasonable margin of musicality. That also means that the overwhelming wall of sound is there purely based on the impressive vocals (might remind of Naked Whipper’s Dominus A.S.) and the low-end part of the music. Other than that, ‘Horns Of Ambomination’ sounds rather “open” and is certainly not built on massive layers of guitars or other fake studio tricks.
In case you are into the aforementioned bands or stuff like Abysmal Lord, Vider, Caveman Cult, Proclamation, Abominator… This is definitely something to check out and keep an eye on. I am already looking forward to the next step for this interesting new addition to the ever-growing Bestial Black/Death Metal scene.
