I’m a little running out of inspiration for writing introductions to – yet another – Agathocles release. So, if you still aren’t into these Belgian mincers, never heard about them (I’m wondering whether this really possible) or want to know about them I suggest that you check out some other reviews where I still spent a load of words introducing this band to you all. But for this release I rest my case?

This time it is a CD release that’s called “Mincemania In Bulgaria” – which makes you think of a maniacal live show in Bulgaria. Well, that is simply not the case here. The CD has been released through a few Bulgarian record labels and is practically only available in Bulgaria – it is said that just fifteen copies of this CD were available throughout Europe, through Agathocles themselves. This CD includes a few songs (51 in total, divided over 39 tracks) from all kinds of recording sessions – all of them recorded live somewhere. That is also my first complaint on this album, all tracks are shuffled so you never get into this special Agathocles mood – except for the last track (which consists out of thirteen songs) and the Aalst show from 1989. For detailed information on the tracks and their recordings see the tracklist below. Most interesting – to me – were the recordings from 2003 and those from 1990 because of the tracklist – which includes some of my favourite tracks. The older sets contains of course a few old classics such as “Christianity Means Tyranny”, “Teachers”, “Majesty Of Fools” and “Lay Off Me”. I’m wondering whether this Aalst show from 1989 was the same where they took a few songs from for the Godstomper split 7″ – raw as fuck, seems like one of those badly recorded bootlegs I have from the late eighties and early nineties from several “cult” bands, though, I still like the sound.
