Artist: Burst
Country: USA
Label: Relapse Records
Formats: CD
Year: 2005
Burst has always been a band worth mentioning, even if you don’t like them, always going their own way. Their last album “Prey On Life” was a bit of a straight forward thrash/hardcore album. Now, with “Origo”, they have faded away from everything that can be labelled as “standard”. Keeping their roots in hardcore they easily integrate Neurosis-esque vibes including the harsh screaming vocals and the tribal-like drumming. This all blends into a breathtaking beautiful mesmerizing wall of sound that leaves nothing for the imagination. Take a song like “The Immateria” for instance, that song must be the blueprint for the future of Burst, easily adding a lot of that Opeth kind of songwriting. Easily one of the best Relapse records of the last years, and that is compliment to be proud of!
