Fallen Warrior is not a musician who likes to take it easy. With his projects Chalice Of Eden and Occult Mountain, he fired a veritable barrage of demos at us from the second half of 2025 onwards. This makes the relatively calm start to this year all the more striking, with ‘Entering Dark Dimensions’ from early March being only the first sign of life. Although F.W. recorded and released no fewer than ten demos in eight months, they were all short, manageable portions that were also presented with a fairly varied sound palette. It may all fall under the umbrella of raw yet atmospheric Black Metal, but each one is slightly different. This latest work is no exception.

What makes ‘Entering Dark Dimensions’ special is that it is perhaps the demo with the greatest musical contrast within its playing time. In fact it is only one “real” song that’s been sandwiched between two soothing but short Dungeon Synth pieces, perhaps a bit of an intro and outro. And even within that one song, the title track, there is a moment of calm in which the Dungeon Synth takes over again. While the use of Dungeon Synth in combination with Black Metal in itself is far from new and not even unique for the project, the contrast with the very sharp-tuned Black Metal parts is rather stark.

The main part, even though it is shorter in terms of playing time, is icy cold Black Metal that fits very well in the tradition of American Black Metal. Especially the repetitiveness of the main riff and the somewhat muted screechy vocals do remind of something that is somewhere in the middle between Judas Iscariot and Weltmacht. The alluring and captivating, cold atmosphere throughout the title track matches well with the synth parts that feels like a mix between early Vinterriket and Evilfeast.

In short: ‘Entering Dark Dimensions’ is not only another solid addition to F.W.’s rapidly expanding back catalogue, it is also fully lives up to its title.
