After a few demos/singles and two EP’s this Swedish Death Metal band, comprised out of past and current members of bands like Grief Of Emerald, Runemagick and Sacramentum, felt ready to unleash their debut album unto the world. They did so with ‘Disharmony’ that recently saw the light of day through Non Serviam Records on both vinyl and CD.

To come straight to the point, ‘Disharmony’ is a solid but unimpressive album. The Death Metal these gentlemen bring to the table is far from original, but audibly that was never the objective, but it also produces little really exciting music. It is obvious that the band members have a much greater musical talent than the standard Old School Death Metal band, but the delivered work can hardly be called better than the average Paganizer album. Although, compared to that usually rather uninspiring Rogga Johansson Death Metal, Death Reich does deliver a bit more variety. Not only in different tempos (where the fast parts are of particular value), but especially in the riff department, it sounds a lot more diverse. The leads also sound better thought through and actually add something to the overall sound. But still, the album fails to really blossom, for that it all sounds just a bit too much like a dime-a-dozen and “we’ve heard this many times before”-band.

In the end the album plods on without leaving too much material that will leave a lasting impression. If you are tired of waiting for a new Vomitory album, you could give ‘Disharmony’ a chance, but don’t expect something of the same level.
