Desert Fox – Desert Fox [Demo]

Artist: Desert Fox
Country: Poland
Label: Gates Of Hell Records
Formats: Demo Tape
Year: 2026

From ever fertile Silesian grounds comes yet another old school Speed Metal band, and like most of their contemporaries, they too have a good few touches of Thrash- and Black Metal. With this self-titled demo tape they are delivering a very solid demo tape, which is released through the Cruz Del Sur sub-label Gates Of Hell Records. Not a bad start, eh?

Musically speaking, Desert Fox also fits perfectly into the local scene. They may be less Black Metal-oriented than Sexmag and more aggressive and generally faster than Gallower or Pandemic, but in terms of sound, they seem to slot right in between the two. Overall, and taken in a broader sense, the influence of their regional forebears in Kat, Dragon, Stos and Destroyers is clearly evident. Such bands rely more on energy and wild enthusiasm than on really masterful musicianship, that too seems very much the case here. That doesn’t mean these guys do not know their way with their instruments, it’s just that they prioritize simple effectiveness over fret-wizardry. After all, this is the sort of music that is all about fist pumping and headbanging and not so much about Malmsteen-like egotripping. A sloppy song with a great energetic vibe to it beats any guitar nerd track. That’s not to say that ‘Desert Fox’ isn’t offering anything substantial on a musical level. There’s definitely some great and surprisingly catchy riffs that do make equally great and catchy songs.

This demo saved the best for last, so in case you’d like to be convinced before buying this demo tape, you can check the closing track ‘Cigarette Sex Cult’. That is a song that checks all the boxes for all of you into good old Speed Metal.
