Hellfire Deathcult – Al Nombre De La Muerte

Artist: Hellfire Deathcult
Country: USA
Label: Helter Skelter Productions
Formats: LP / CD
Year: 2022

My VM-Underground colleague already commented quite aptly on these American’s debut album that the music of Hellfire Deathcult would appeal to fans of Teitanblood, Adversarial and early Impetuous Ritual, while the rest might just see it as incomprehensible noise. It is good to know that the band wasn’t offended by her words and just went straight ahead, going for an even more savage approach on this subsequent album.

What you are being served with here is indeed just more of the same, really. It has a low blubbery sort of buzz sawing guitars sound that is joined with an equally low rumbling bass guitar, while the drums are the only instrument that actually has a bit of dynamics to it. The vocals are very fittingly guttural and they will make a rabid bear go pale. Yes, this all makes a perfect piece of music to get rid of your Sunday morning hangover, or of your in-laws sticking around too long again after their cup of coffee. Bluurgh.

Hellfire Deathcult is definitely not for the faint of heart, but for those who perk up at a nice record of Blasphemy, Proclamation, Archgoat or Sadomator: this is just that firestarter that you were looking for.
