‘Demo 2025’ is the debut demo of this new band from Germany that obviously had nothing else in mind than to pay homage to the 80’s tradition of (German) Heavy Metal. Not only in terms of the music, but also in aesthetics. The demo comes with an old school xeroxed and folded cover that has some nostalgic tongue-in-cheek humour, clumsy drawings and “handy” information, like for instance that this demo was recorded between August 6th and August 8th 2025 “irgendwo im nirgendwo” (“somewhere in nowhere”).
That last statement actually fits in well with the concept of Metal Faust, as this is a band consisting of four people who use pseudonyms – or at least that is what you’re meant to believe. But in fact, Metal Faust hides a wealth of experience in a large number of highly respected bands from the German metal scene.
On a musical level this demo has really something solid to offer, especially guitarist Herbert “Premutos” Egoldt brings some great old school riffs and leads to the table. In fact, he almost single-handedly carries this first debut. Because on the vocal department there is something that you really need to either know how to appreciate or get used to. Personally, I totally love those off-key and forced-as-fck kind of vocals, it truly adds to the overall 80’s atmosphere and positive and energetic vibe. But, if you are looking for some Heavy Metal with powerful and pure vocals with a great sense for finesse and timing, you’d better look elsewhere.
But, if you liked the charm of such bands as Axewielder for instance, or lots of those other acts on the sadly defunct Metal Coven Records label for that matter, Metal Faust is something that will definitely tickle your fancy. This is the musical equivalent of those movies that you just watch for entertainment and not much else. Metal Faust is such a band that is great for its sheer entertainment value. Please let us cherish such bands that deny the 90’s ever happened!
