Necroaura is a new international band (or project, if you will) sprung from the minds of Insalubris Infernalis (or I.I.) who is usually spending his time with Dryas, Insalubre, Eremites, Preeminência and formerly also with Infernüs and Perpetuorum In Tenebrae (or P.I.T. or Tksräa M.) of Vzörbrëzv, Mörmoo, Masmorra, Atrim Malum, Apokalupsis, Condescendance, Mörmbrztröm and Mürmurio. Anyone who happens to know a few of those bands may already have a faint idea of what Necroaura might be bringing. Let’s put it this way: it aint pretty and it will be challenging.
First, on a general level, Insalubris Infernalis usually brings a sort of Black Metal that could be filed under “traditional” or at least, compared to the Noise-drenched and overall wild and wicked stuff that Tksräa M. comes up with. So, with I.I. being responsible for the instrumental part of this first self-titled demo and P.I.T. solely doing the vocal part you might expect “normal” Black Metal with weird-as-fuck vocals. But, you guessed it, this time it is all bonkers.
As a whole, Necroaura, on this first feat, sounds like a raw rehearsal clash of some old Les Légions Noires, Woods Of Infinity and Master’s Hammer. Nothing traditional here. The bare song structures remind of the rawer Les Légions Noires bands, but it has the unpredictability of Woods Of Infinity and the crazy vocal antics of Master’s Hammer. The result is something that is highly unsettling and uncomfortable to the bone. The dissonant guitar sound and the pacey rhythms that appear to go in all directions are making sure you will be on the edge of your seat the whole time. Even after a good couple of spins, this still is very hard to digest and it even gets on your nerves – in a good way though. At least, if you can bear it. This is not stuff for those who are looking for yet another smooth rolling Watain soundalike.
