After two demos, the last of which was released in 2024 by Destruktion Records in a limited edition of only 20 copies, this group of young lads from the Silesia region of Poland decided it was time to present the world with a full album. Although those earlier released demos were distributed in rather modest quantities, the band caught the attention of Putrid Cult with the result of that Polish label signing up for the release of Nekkrolüst’s debut album on CD. The cassette tape was released through Metal Power Fighting Force, an imprint related to Destruktion Records. If you happen to have heard those two demos, you know you’re in for some unadulterated Black/Thrash Metal.
In recent years the Silesian scene has been impressively expanding with quite a bunch of great bands. Besides the ones that are most visible, like Gallower and especially Sexmag there’s quite a lot of other acts that are worth checking out. Not all of them are equally good or essential in the sense of a must-have for your collection, but the point is: there’s something cooking in that historical Polish region. And it ain’t pretty, I can tell you that.
To that tradition and in league with the follow uppers like Pandemic, Black Hosts, Evilcult, Abyssal Condemnation, Hadesalia and a good few others, we can now add Nekkrolüst too. Just like all of the others, Nekkrolüst is not about originality nor about adding new layers to the tradition of the denim-and-leather. With their brand of Black/Thrash Metal they deliver both genres in equal measures paying homage to the early recordings of Nifelheim or the slightly more recent Deathhammer. There’s a lot of Heavy Metal lead and melodies as well as a good dose of ultra-old fashioned Speed Metal riffs, but the majority of ‘Hate And Kill’ is about fast-paced old Kreator-like Thrash Metal with a clear Black Metal edge to both the riffs and the vocals.
Although this might not be the most best or wild band out there, I’ll take Nekkrolüst over 95% of today’s metal scene. This clearly has the passion and the energy I am looking for in metal. Well done guys!
