Thromvosis – Black Signs Of Bestiality

‘Black Signs Of Bestiality’ is the follow-up recording to 2023’s ‘Proclamation Of The Smegmatic Warcult’, a record that I have reviewed and spent only a few hands full of words on. One of my shortest reviews even. And not because I didn’t like it, on the contrary I would say. The music itself and the underlying intentions are so obvious and simple, in a good way, that a deeper analysis would only take away the spontaneity and overall meaning of it. Those who have heard and liked ‘Proclamation Of The Smegmatic Warcult’ will definitely be enamored with the band’s newest effort; you’re in for another prime example of simplistic Bestial Black/Death Metal.

This Greek foursome puts little effort in hiding their musical inspirations and intentions. While you can basically compare Thromvosis with just about any random band in this particular musical niche, the most accurate would be to imagine put Beherit, Blasphemy, Archgoat and Anal Blasphemy in a cocktail shaker and present it with a little umbrella and some fresh fruit and ice.

Consequently, if you are on the lookout for some genre bending music to quench your thirst for adventurism, Thromvosis is most likely not going to tickle your fancy. Neither are these guys redefining the Bestial Black/Death Metal genre, it is a solid effort, but not outstanding. But, I would be surprised if these guys were aiming for either of these two goals. Thromvosis has released two full-length records, in addition to the ‘Heinous Deformities’-demo from 2021, and showed us nothing but sheer dedication to the genre’s prime aesthetics. In case you share the same fascination and admiration as these Thromvosis guys, then you will definitely enjoy their predominantly slow and grinding “art”, very similar to the Archgoat at their most sluggishness. I know I do enjoy this a whole lot, originality is an overrated thing anyway.
