If you talk about the real black metal of today, you will certainly tell about the enormous amounts of bands emerging the scene with their raw and blaspheme art. Yet, most of those bands lack any originality, profession and the true spirit of what is called ‘true blackmetal’. Very little bands are able to stand out of the grey masses of mediocrity. For some time it seemed that blackmetal was on its way back, but the last few years it seems that the true hordes are gathering again. One of the bands that truly keep the black flames burning is the Italian one-man project Forgotten Tomb. With this second full length Herr Morbid still keeps the high standards of true depressive black arts burning…

Not many bands know how to capture the dark feeling of emptiness and depression that well in one piece of music like Forgotten Tomb does. While listening this blackened opus you fancy yourself alone in a destructive environment, ready for self-mutilation and full of pain and hate. The blackest in you will arise and take over all the peaceful thoughts and replace it by misanthropy. Herr Morbid takes you down to the deepest pits of the mind and makes you wondering about your futile existence. With the repetitive intent of the album it gives you some hypnotising feeling. The quite Burzum-ish style of playing is very recognisable and typical Forgotten Tomb. I think Herr Morbid has captured the true essence of leaving life on this piece of plastic/vinyl. When playing this piece of suicidal art the world is burning in black flames and in the end you will awake from your slumber. But “Springtime Depression” won’t leave you, and holds you in its grip, that’s why you are forced to push your “play” button again… And again… And again…
