After the release of ‘Sordid Realm Of Apparition’ and the split tape with Gnawed Chrisom, Eerified Catacomb returns with two new demo tapes. ‘Liquidation Of Souls’ is the first of the two and contains three untitled tracks that further explores the projects direction of Raw and Lo-Fi Black Metal.

Honestly, with these three new tracks Eerified Catacomb doesn’t really surprise as it fits seamlessly within the ranks of its extensive discography. But, while it might not blow you off your socks with renewed creativity, it does so with its sheer power and persistency. The urgency with which these new songs are brought makes Eerified Catacomb one of the most interesting and definitely one of the best acts in today’s Raw/Lo-Fi Black Metal scene. For the inattentive listener, the impenetrable walls of harsh vocals and crude sounding guitars will just be noise and chaos. Those willing to dig deeper, and perhaps the ones with a trained ear, will notice the thick layers of details and the music’s melancholic undertones. None of the project’s work has been for the masses and ‘Liquidation Of Souls’ is no exception to that rule.

Still, while most of the fifteen minutes playing time does serve you with rather typical Eerified Catacomb material, it is especially the last two tracks that does feel a little more doomy and eerie in nature than the average stuff from previous releases. The first song is a bit more standard, but shows Eerifier’s sense for craftsmanship when it comes to song writing, yet it is those last two tracks that really makes ‘Liquidation Of Souls’ an outstanding little demo. More droning, more moody, more sinister and incredibly dark – a formula that seems a natural fit to the otherwise already rather creepy ambiance of the band.
