The latest in a row of Agathocles 7″ EPs (though, the new one (with Rot In Pieces) is already on its way). This time it is with the long term gory death/grinders (whatever you want) of Kaverficker. A band that is pretty active the last few years, though, they exist over one decade now. Let’s see what this might be…
Agathocles kicks off with four short songs in the vein of the previous few 7″ EPs. What comes to mind – after a few spins, to be honest – is that the songs are getting better in structure though I think the sound is progressing too. The dark raw sound is getting evolved in something more shrill way of mastering. It could be a one-time event, which I actually hope for I dig the darker sound more. Though, this is still one of the nicer 7″ EPs Agathocles put out. The lay-out looks smooth and the other side is highly enjoyable too. The rest of the things are as we used to, left-winged lyrics (pretty much underlined by the first song of the EP: “Fucking Right, We Are Left”).
Kadaverficker is the band on the other side, despite of the fact that the name pops up more frequently each day I never heard the band. Fanzines and people were telling me that I had to check this one out, but well, everyone tells you everything, right? But, this time I wish I would’ve done it – for the band is a very cool and dark and gory death/doom/sludge band. People told me they were pretty original, well, I can’t fully agree with them (based on these two songs of course). They are pretty much in the vein of early Necrophagia for instance. Though, this kind of music is getting more rare each year so I’m happy to get my hands on this band. Gore forever!
