Vömitt – Motörized Kataphracts [EP]

Artist: Vömitt
Country: Romania
Label: Self-Releasaed
Formats: Digital EP
Year: 2026

In the summer of 2024 I first heard from Vömitt, a bunch of motörized scallywags from Romania. Although these lads already released an EP a year prior, I only ran into them with their second effort, the ‘Impale The Sultan’ EP. Missing out on one of their EP’s, they now have three under their belts, is not quite a big deal. Not because they’re not good, but because this is not the band that is changing its musical formula. Not overnight and not even slowly: not at all.

Vömitt is as musically steady and consistent as their heroes and examples in Motörhead. That means that ‘Motörized Kataphracts’ is like 99% identical to the previous two EP’s. The only difference is that this latest piece sounds quite a bit more punchy, giving it all a bit of a sharper edge and leaving more room for the lead guitars to shine. Other than that this is just a great little fucker that will please the fans of bands like Midnight, Abigail, Gehennah, Toxic Holocaust, Barbatos, Shitfucker, Speedwolf, Bat, Infernö, Aura Noir and of course, Venom, Sabbat and Motörhead. Even those into the more sleazy speedrock bands like Zeke will definitely dig this as well. Nothing overly spectacular, but definitely thoroughly enjoyable. Especially when it’s served in such small portions, as with Vömitt, this dish is ready in just over 10 minutes, I could eat it all day long.

Romania may not have the largest metal scene in Europe, but it does produce some thoroughly entertaining bands in this particular genre. Be sure to check out Diavol, Hëllstrike, Slicer, Crossbone and my favourite: Leather Brigade.
