With the Woods Of Ypres-tribute EP as some sort of an interlude, the American Black Metal duo continues with this 1-track EP/single where they left off: the musical narration of The Witcher. As I mentioned before in one of the reviews of the previous releases, I am not a The Witcher-connoisseur and will again mainly limit myself to the music.
This one song, with a length of just under 6 minutes, shows a slightly more melodic Hekseblad. The melody comes mainly in the form of a mad-genius-like harpsichord-theme, which comes back several times and is very catchy. Of course, the raw guitar sound is still there, the song has a solid and firm Heavy Metal riff as its core and also gives song its own identity. As far as I’m concerned, Bruxa’s vocals work better here too and they seem to be sung with more conviction and are a bit fuller in the mix. An interesting song and perhaps the best that Hekseblad has released to date.
