Under the banner of Death’s Radiance, an obscure label that already brought us such great acts as Firmament and especially Kudlaakh, comes the debut of Black Discharge. Apart from the fact that they originate from the USA, nothing is really known about Black Discharge, but the fact that they surround themselves with these bands and this label says more than words can tell.

To put things in more detailed context, Black Discharge is a straight descendant in both musical and aesthetical values of bands like Orgy Of Carrion and Drekavac. Those two bands, with Orgy Of Carrion in particular, have almost single-handedly defined the raw and lo-fi brand of American Black metal. Although relatively new to the game, with their raucous, harsh and noisy approach to the Black Metal genre that have spawned quite some offspring of themselves. It is unclear whether Black Discharge is comprised of new musicians or seasoned veterans, but it is for sure clear that these guys (assuming that it is not a one-man project) were at least inspired by the same sort of music that was popularised by Orgy Of Carrion and its peers.

In two tracks, clocking well under 15 minutes, Black Discharge serves us with some unrelenting, putrid noise. Like a whirlwind, a real barrage of rust-filled riffs and caveman-like drums form the basis for the screeching and bellowing vocals, together merging into something that requires a bit of a trained ear or at least some dedication. At least, this first EP by Black Discharge should tickle those who have a soft spot for bands that usually find their way to labels like Perverse Homage, Satanik Requiem, Altare Productions and Skjold previously.
