Bloody Sign – The 3rd Escape [EP]

Artist: Bloody Sign
Country: France
Label: Blood Harvest
Formats: 7″ EP
Year: 2008

Though I always thought that these French guys of Bloody Sign weren’t the best in their genre, they still know how to get their music spread. Numerous splits and underground releases are available and are actually not very unpleasant to listen to. This new 7” EP is the last one in a row, released by the Swedish titans of Blood Harvest Records.

Unlike some other Bloody Sign releases, this one is of the best quality I’ve heard so far. If this is the way they are planning to continue it is pretty much a logical step for them that labels like Ibex Moon Records and Blood Harvest Records are releasing their music now. This is definitely something for fans of the old school death metal the way Incantation used to play it. Or, if you will, Immolation, Morbid Angel (“Blessed Are The Sick”-era), Sadistic Intent. This release is rather flawless and though the recording quality is not the best and the sound is muddy and overal messy it is still a great listen. It is the music that does the speaking here, interesting compositions, tempo-changes and (hidden) melodies.

Together with a great old school (what else did you expect?) cover, inlay and black vinyl, this is yet another interesting release by one of the best labels from the last years. You won’t catch Blood Harvest Records releasing a shitty record, that’s for sure. Pure quality for everyone who considers him/herself as an underground adept.
