‘Slow Disembowelment To Be Defecated Alive’ is yet another addition to the rapidly growing discography of Peru’s most active Death/Grind band. Although Dismorfia was already formed back in 2019, it is mainly in the most recent years that they got really active with releasing one short player after another. But, since they’re all short and tasty, that is definitely not something to complain about.
This very EP was materialized on both 7” vinyl by the German Lycanthropic Chants label, run by one of the lads of Cryptic Brood, and on cassette tape by the band’s long-time companions of Gurgling Gore. A perfect teaming up for another slab of chugging and surprisingly dynamic Death/Grind. Clocking in at 12 minutes, this EP offers four new tracks that sound just as classic as their previous output. Although still rather raw and slightly murky, it is clear the band has taken a bit more time for the overall production. But, other than that, this is just another portion of.. well… gurgling gore.
But while a lot of other bands in the genre are merely copying Carcass and doing what bands like Dead Infection and General Surgery already did back in the early 90’s, Dismorfia is adding a good amount of old school Death Metal to the mix. Especially in the vocal department you can find a resemblance of early Incantation, Goreaphobia and the likes. Add a bit of that interesting bit of Pungent Stench in terms of dynamic song writing and a genuine demonstration of rather good guitar leads at the tail-end of this EP. It is obvious that nothing Dismorfia is doing will go under the ‘unique’ or ‘ground breaking’ moniker, that was never the point to begin with, but with their great sense for good and versatile song writing they belong to the best bands in the genre.
