Genocide Kommando is a new band in the blackmetal scene, but with wellknown members. The band is consisting of Kommander Noktu (Drakkar Productions / Celestia) and Kommander Horrendus (Corpus Christi), with these well-known names and the CD-title we can nothing but expecting great blackmetal. And that is what they supply us: great antihuman blackmetal! Anti-human indeed, a photo of a mass grave at a concentration camp and all kinds of slogans like “Genocide Kommando does not want to be compared with that scene that tolerates homosexuality in our kult” proves that they really don’t give a damn about any political correctness. Nothing new or surprising at all.
Musically it isn’t that renewing too! It sounds like the traditional Norwegian blackmetal we all know from bands like Darkthrone and Mayhem. The vocals of Kommander Noktu reminds me of Maniac (Mayhem), but he can’t let it sound that sick. Sometimes it sounds really great and promising, crushing riffs and drums. But on the other hand it sometimes get a bit boring, the CD doesn’t contain just killer stuff, unfortunately. Sometimes it just can’t keep my attention at all. This band has the talent to grow some bigger but they really can’t reach the level of the above named Norwegian bands at all.
The sound on the CD is really good, but what did you expect from a mastering studio like Nettlingham Audio (Thy Infernal and Judas Iscariot)? Ofcourse it is not that polished like all modern blackmetal bands have. It is some kind of a mixture between the old fashioned raw and a more clear sound.
Fans of fast and hateful blackmetal in the raw vein should check this CD which will be available everywhere! Great stuff!
