Inhume – Chaos Dissection Order

Artist: Inhume
Country: The Netherlands
Label: Osmose Productions
Formats: CD
Year: 2007

After a wait of over one year and a half, Inhume’s third album finally sees the light of day. To give you an indication, I first heard this album somewhere between Christmas and Sylvester 2005! That means that Osmose Productions needed around a good sixteen months to come up with the final product. This either means that they had a difficulty with the music (it might’ve been too brutal) or out of pure disrespect towards the band and their great album…

Anyway, the album is out now and the music is what counts. And “Chaos Dissection Order” gives you just what you need from an Inhume album. The album bursts from the fast crunchy guitar riffs, extremely fast drum fills and out of the ordinary vocals. Not that this albums is a “In For The Kill Pt. II”, but the formula is definitely the same. Why change a winning team? Yet, if you listen close enough you’ll find the differences, they may be subtle, but they’re certainly there. First of all, the emphasis has definitely been moved from being just super-fucking-fast to super-fucking-fast-but-still-super-fucking-catchy-as-well. Which results in songs like “Dismal” and “Abhorrent”, in which extreme velocities and catchy riffs and drums go hand in hand without losing any of the brutality. Plus, besides the Dutch king of all kings when it comes to extreme metal throats Joost his nice hairless pal Dorus has been made more audible in the mix as well – which gives their duels a fair bit more aggressiveness. So, maturity is the keyword here I guess, after grinding their asses off in over thirteen years now, experience seems to drop off its results.

Applause to Inhume for delivering a convincing album in the form of “Chaos Dissection Order” in which they combine the best ingredients. Its hard to come by albums like this, frantic, extreme, aggressive and immensely fast without sounding boring within the first two tracks. Whether there will be a vinyl version of this album too is unclear to me as for yet, but keeping in mind it took them well over one year and a half to get this on CD…

Last, I can’t help it, but did you notice the resemblance between the cover for this CD and the image in the booklet of Deicide’s “Once Upon The Cross”?
