Metal from Africa? Yes, I didn’t make a mistake, these guys are from Africa. I haven’t heard any African metalband before, let alone blackmetal! What do you expect from an African blackmetal band? Not even got a clue…
Well, the music of Out Body Experience (some kind of a strange name, that doesn’t cover the bands music at all) has some influences from other bands from exotic like Orphaned Land (Israel), but this Tunesian band is waaay better then Orphaned Land has ever been. I think I’ve never been so surprised by any demo in the past! This is so good, with every song I’m more surprised. All kind of influences can be heard, mid temp blackmetal is easily mixed with doom and exotic instruments and sounds. And to get it even more varying the band alternates the usual growls and grunts with clean singing. Great atmospheres are being created with organs, pianos, keyboards, nice guitar solos, and even violins. Out Body Experience doesn’t to be afraid of anything, and this is what really is missed in the blackmetal scene of today! And besides all these great words about the music, I also can’t complain about the sound, since it is really good. Really nothing to complain about!
Out Body Experience is a perfect example why I like underground metal! You never know what to expect, this is certainly one of the best demo’s I have ever heard! And fans of bands like Amorphis, Orphaned Land and open-minded blackmetal fans should check this out. Maybe a name change and this band could be a lot more successful…
