Pandemia – Feet Of Anger

Year: 2009

German label War Anthem Records signed Czech band Pandemia, or perhaps they were stuck with them when they took over Morbid Records. If the latter is the case, then they can be forgiven, but if they actually consciously signed the band, then you have every right to wonder why…

Feet Of Anger is an album without a distinct identity, direction, or memorable moments. Musically, it is all over the place, lacking the common thread that typically holds an album together. Death metal is the predominant genre, but it is so frequently interrupted by oddities that listening to ‘Feet Of Anger’ quickly becomes a challenge. On ‘Twisted Faith’, the band sounds weak due to the lack of melody, and the strumming/clean parts in songs like ‘The Void’ and ‘Human Error’ sound out of place and downright boring. There are no really good riffs, solos, melodies, or hooks on any of the songs, and it is precisely the lack of a distinctive sound that characterizes this album. Even the guest contribution by Big Boss (Root) adds no value, on the contrary! The cover track from fellow Czech band Krabathor is nice, though.

Sadly, even Andy Classen’s (ex-Holy Moses) solid production can’t save this one. The band’s promising start about ten years ago showed a lot of potential, but the way things are going, the Czechs will always be just a mediocre underground band.
