Pantheon I – Demo MMIII

Year: 2003

Another piece of Norwegian black art! Four old friends started jamming together during the year 2000. For the time being, they are based in Oslo, Norway. Not too long ago they decided to go serious with this band. The bands members are Andrè Kvebek (guitar & vocals), John Espen Sagstad (guitar), Anders Grindland (bass) and Eirik Renton (drums). Later the band got rid of the bassplayer for musical differences. Up till now the band didn’t have any live experiences, but all members had live experiences with their other bands (Andrè in 1349, John Espen played some gigs with Abiotic and Eirik with Sarkom (formerly know as Ritual)).

This demo (which is free to download from their website by the way) can be labelled as an extreme blackmetal demo. I think this is one of the better ones that reached me this year in that genre. This is still typical rawish blackmetal, but with a quite original touch. A lot of high-pitched guitarsounds and original riffs make this band more then ‘just another Norwegian blackmetal band’. And with Silje helping the band out on cello and Sareeta, from Norwegian avantgarde blackmetal band Ram-Zet on violin it all sounds really interesting, and this promises a lot for the future!
