While reading through the bands on the inlay that are thanked for their influence expectations run sky-high. A nice blend of all kinds of heroic and epic metal bands are named, a few of them being Manowar, Manilla Road, Heavy Load, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Rainbow, Immortal, Angel Witch, Diamond Head and Reverend Bizarre. Yet, unfortunately, Realmbuilder from New York shows that this is no guarantee of a good result.
The music is actually a bit in the vein of the above mentioned bands, basically a good mixture. But Realmbuilder is just not capable of catching the same vibe, atmosphere and class. The guitar riffs are not the best and lack power, but the most annoying thing about this record are Czar’s vocals. Just awful. The singing is so out of tune and so monotonous that is really just hurts.
It surprises me that a quality label as I Hate Records are actually putting this out. Non of the melodies will stuck in your head and the only thing that’s memorable are the horrendous vocals. Actually, this is just rubbish. Yet, the release itself is quite nice, pretty good colourful cover and good quality clear green vinyl (limited to 400 copies). But, you’d better stay away from this.
