Sooner or later every review will mention that Sardonis is a two-man band that play instrumental doom/sludge songs – as they say, ‘4 skins and 6 strings’. Well, what can you expect from a band with such minimal instruments? Not much, would most of the people say. But Sardonis actually know how to convince on this first 7”.
One of the things they do prove is that you don’t need a singer and a bassist to sound heavy or at least have some variety. Opener “Nero d’Avola” is possibly the best track on this EP. It is the most crushing and is definitely the doomiest of songs here. Where other tracks tend to go to the stoner-side of the doom spectrum and even have a half-cheerful up-tempo part, this track has a very heavy ending with some fierce pounding double-bass.
Released in 250 copies, including 50 in white vinyl. Comes with a Sardonis sticker, just so you know.
