Sewer Haul – Torso Mangled Beyond Repair [EP]

Artist: Sewer Haul
Country: Denmark
Label: Extremely Rotten Productions
Formats: Cassette EP
Year: 2025

After the release of Slovgh’s ‘Emetic Fluid Transaction’-EP on cassette, released in the summer of 2024, both the band and their label thought it would be a great idea to also put these tracks on wax. But just when the EP was sent off to press, the band decided to change their name to Sewer Haul. This resulted in the label having to pull the emergency brake in order to release the EP under the new name. Now, a year later, the Danes are back with a new EP. For now it seems it will only be available on cassette tape, but judging from its playing time of just over five minutes, I wouldn’t be surprised if this would also end up being pressed on a 7” EP at some point.

Despite the short playing time, time-wise ‘Torso Mangled Beyond Repair’ is even suitable for a split 7” EP, Sewer Haul managed to divide these five minutes into five tracks. An approach that is similar to the preceding ‘Emetic Fluid Transaction’-EP from last year, yet, this new offering has a heavier and more dense sound that accentuate the deeper regions of the soundscape. The result is a more Death Metal-oriented sound that feels even closer to Mortician than earlier. But, those who loved the debut’s blend in which there was a strong connection to Goregrind shouldn’t feel left out. As a whole this is still very much a natural amalgam between Mortician, old Carcass, Phlegm, Eyegouger, Hideous Mangleus, Impetigo, old Rottrevore, old Nuclear Death and Blood.

Although the slightly updated sound results in a somewhat more natural or, if you will, organic feel, I loved the more prominent PENG-like snare drum of the debut EP. But, honestly, that is just minor details, Sewer Haul again delivers a highly enjoyable EP that reminds of the heydays of those heavy deathgrinding moments in history.
