Daemonlord is not really an unknown band in the underground anymore. This band from Spain is wandering the underground paths from summer 2000. And things went quite well with putting out some demos and split CDs in the past. After some line-up changes the band found quite a stable line-up. There is also a 4-way split 2LP to be put out together with Perditor, Necrocult and Goat Semen. And this 7″ EP on Ketzer. Things are going fast and very well with this band!
But musically this is my first meeting with the band, I already heard a lot of good things of this bands from other blackmetal musicians from Spain. But well, onto the music then. Four old school blackmetal tracks are on this nice piece of vinyl. It’s not quite original, but well, to be exact, what IS original these days, but it really is a nice piece of blackmetal the way it should be played. And the Rotting Christ cover blab their roots, it sounds a bit like the Greek blackmetal indeed. But, to me, this is a good thing since this is some kind of a forgotten way of making music. It also reminds me a bit of the good times of Ancient Rites (so let’s say, up to Fatherland). This can be taken as a compliment indeed!
So, people who like oldschool Grecian blackmetal should definitely check this band! Keep an eye on this band anyway, this band could grow very fast!
