Thai Bestial Black/Death Metal band Genocidal Sodomy first came to my radar with the split 7” EP with Savage Necromancy that was released in 2020, but even before that they independently released a demo/EP in 2018 and was re-released through Witchhammer Productions and Unpure Records in 2020. Still, I missed that these guys released a new demo early 2025, but it is again Unpure Records that is giving this demo a second life on cassette tape. Even when it is only two tracks with a total playing time of six minutes, ‘Genocide Consecration’ is still a serious punch in the teeth.
This isn’t only the first proper recording of the band since the two tracks on a compilation with bands such as Hellfire Deathcult and Sarinvomit, but it is also the first recording with their current line-up. But, rest assured, if you were afraid that the addition of guitarist/vocalist “Brutal Witching Desecrator Of Heaven” would drastically change the course of the band: it didn’t. ‘Genocide Consecration’ is nothing but a logical continuation of what the band had been doing before. It is even fair to conclude that this is the best the band has ever sounded in terms of their overall sonic presentation.
On a musical level, all things remained intact. Which means that you’re getting a frantic blend of Archgoat, Proclamation and Angelcorpse. A menacing whirlwind of riffs and a true barrage of whipping drums, all topped by a rabid barking dog. A total devasting collision of aggression and violence in audial form. It is not anything we haven’t heard before, but it is done in a very convincing way, brutally satisfying.
The point is that six minutes of recording time is really very little. The cost remains the same, of course, so you don’t get much value for your money. It might have been a good idea to at least add the two tracks from the aforementioned compilation. But, ‘Genocidal Concecration’ is a true smash hit, so it’s up to you whether you want to spend your money on it.
