Flagellator – Channeling The Acheron

Never heard of this band before, and I can’t find any information about this band on the net. And the information that came along with the CD isn’t much either. This is really irritating, how can I write a proper review without knowing anything about this band. A farce…

Anyway, about the most important thing then, the music. It doesn’t really impress me that much. The band plays a kind of blackmetal that refers to the early days of the genre. Raw, fast and brutal. But it’s never outstanding or in anyway interesting enough to keep my attention fully. The overall sound can be labelled as just bad, and, yes, a blackmetal CD can be produced badly too. This CD just lacks the atmosphere it could have had when the production would’ve been better. The same goes for the vocals that don’t really fit in the music. And when I just slightly begin to like the music the band changes all kinds of things (putting in some lame solos, lowering tempos or repeating the same boring riffs again). Maybe a better production and some more rehearsals will do this band some good. Right now this is just below average.
