This one-sided 12” on Darkland Records can be seen as some sort of an appetizer of the new full-length, “Spears Of Heaven”, that was released in April 2009 through No Colours Records (double-vinyl version will come later on in 2009!). Graveland is not only known for its controversial ideology but also for its inconsistent quality and fickle character.
On “Wotan Mit Mir” Rob Darken goes a bit back in time and somehow found a bit of his black metal roots back. This blends rather well with the more pagan-like releases of the last couple of years. Besides the bombastic, symphonic and heroic sounds there is a lot double-bass drumming and powerful riffing. Especially the last track, “Rainbow Bridge”, belongs to the best tracks Darken did over the last couple of years. Musically it fits rather well with one of the band’s best releases, “Creed Of Iron”.
With only two tracks and an intro it is hard to say what the next album will be like, but if this is really an appetizer we can expect the best. For those who are interested, this mini LP was released in red, white and black vinyl, all limited to 300 copies.
