Motörpenis / Black Torment – United Forces Of Blasphemy [Split EP]

Artist: Motörpenis / Black Torment
Country: Portugal / Mexico
Label: Iron Bonehead Productions
Formats: 7″ EP
Year: 2009

This is the first release for Iron Bonehead Productions in 2009, a split record between Motörpenis from Portugal and Mexican Black Torment. Harsh thrashing black metal, or blackish thrash metal, whatever you prefer. The artwork should already reveal its content, Satan himself standing atop a crucifix with an erected penis and Jesus’ decapitated head in his hands while two demos are fucking nuns…

It might come as a surprise that there’s very little Motörhead to be found here. Instead hints of early Destruction and Sodom are rather easy to pick out, especially the short high shrieks will make you shout “curse the GODS”. So, it might not come as a surprise either that there’s very little originality to be found over here. The production is pretty much non-existent and therefore it sounds a bit hollow, especially compared to the other side of the vinyl. A full 7” for Motörpenis would do better, I suppose.

Black Torment definitely sounds like a sledgehammer in the face after the shrieky sound of Motörpenis. A more black approach and definitely a few tads faster, this Mexican horde knows how to deliver the goods. It is actually sounding like a bit more primitive and death metal-like Desaster. Rather obvious perhaps, yet their 15-year experience in this band makes them sound like a smoothly rolling machine easily capable of spawning a few well-played riffs and solos to enhance the songs.
