Zyklon / Red Harvest – Zyklon / Red Harvest [Split 7″ EP]

Artist: Zyklon / Red Harvest
Country: Norway
Label: Nocturnal Art Productions
Formats: Split 7″ EP
Year: 2003

A nice looking split release between two Norwegian bands, being Zyklon and Red Harvest. Both don’t need any introduction. Both acts are represented with one song of one of their previous releases, and remixed by OCD @ VOID, whoever that is… To me it worked out great, it gives both bands a futuristic atmosphere. A great addition to your collection for sure!

To start with Zyklon. Well, after hearing the amazing “World Ov Worms” I would never thought I once would have my hands on a 7″ with an electronic remix. Unbelievable. This side of the 7″ is filled with “Storm Detonation”, not much is left from the original, just the screams/vocals and the guitar riffs, and the rest is gone and replaced by some heavy beats and electronic drums and samples. And for me it worked out really well, I like the creative way.

The Red Harvest song is something different, where the Zyklon remix was on topspeed, almost gabber/terror like this is more mid-tempo. The drumbeats are mixed in slow it’s less chaotic. And the original “Fix-Hammer-Fix” from the great “Cold Dark Matter” album is already more industrial and electronic than Zyklon is, so this song is more suitable for a remix anyway. Though, I think this remix is less good then the Zyklon one, since the overall atmosphere of the Zyklon song can still be heard on it’s remix.

Beware for the futuristic slaughter cult…
